Audition 2026
The Hot Springs Children’s Dance Theatre Company (HSCDTC) is pleased to announce open auditions for its upcoming production of the beloved storybook ballet, Peter Pan. Under the artistic direction of Edmond Cooper, selected dancers will have the unique opportunity to study the nuances of ballet within a professional and dedicated organizational environment.
About the Artistic Team
- Artistic Director Edmond Cooper: A Hot Springs native, Mr. Cooper is a former professional touring performer and acclaimed choreographer. His talent, energy, and vision inspire the company across all levels of instruction.
- Original Score: This production features an original score by internationally acclaimed composer Stephen Warbeck, specifically commissioned for ballet interpretation.
Audition Details
- Date: Saturday, February 7, 2026
- Location: HSCDTC Studio (“Techniques”), 112 Blackhawk Lane, Suite B, Hot Springs, AR 71913
- Audition Fee: $15.00
- Eligibility: Open to all boys and girls in the community, ages 5 and older.
Audition Schedule by Age Group:
- Ages 5–9: 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM
- Ages 10–13: 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM
- Ages 14+: 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM
Note: Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled start time to complete registration.
Requirements & Dress Code
The audition will consist of a ballet technique class. A parent or guardian must be present for all students under the age of 18 to sign the required waivers.
- Girls: Black leotard, pink tights, ballet shoes, and hair secured in a bun. Intermediate and advanced dancers should also bring pointe shoes.
- Boys: Tights, shorts, or athletic pants and a T-shirt.
Participation & Performance Schedule
Dancers selected for the production must sign a participation agreement and pay a $200 participation fee by the second week of rehearsals. This fee covers:
- Twelve weeks of rehearsals.
- Costume expenses.
- A weekly Saturday morning warm-up class (10:00 AM) prior to rehearsals.
Rehearsal & Production Timeline:
- Rehearsals: Every Saturday beginning in February (plus select weeknights for intermediate/advanced dancers).
- Technical Rehearsals: May 3–6, 2026.
- School Production: Thursday, May 7, 2026, at 10:00 AM.
- Public Performances: Five shows scheduled throughout the first and second weeks of May 2026.
